Following a polarised election campaign for the city council of Vienna, regarded as regional parliamentary elections, ALDE Party member NEOS succeeded in entering the Parliament with 6.2%. NEOS is the first new political party in 20 years having achieved this.

The current mandate of the steering committee comes to an end at the upcoming ALDE Party Congress. Therefore, individual members will be invited to vote for a new committee before the end of this month. Members have until Wednesday 21 October to submit nominations.
