On Sunday 23 October Lithuanian citizens voted in a second round of parliamentary elections. ALDE Party member Liberalai successfully increased their number of MPs, from 8 seats in the first round to 14 seats in total after the second round, achieving the largest parliamentary group in the party’s history.
The UK Liberal Democrats are hailing a ‘return to the big time’ after recording a strong result in a by-election on 20 October in Witney, the seat of the former Prime Minister David Cameron. The LibDems dented the Conservative majority and secured one of the party’s best by-election results in decades.
