Antonio Tajani from the European People’s Party has been elected as the new President of the European Parliament, succeeding Martin Schulz (Socialists & Democrats). The ALDE Group backed Tajani’s bid to become President as ALDE and EPP have formed a pro-European coalition to reform Europe.
Following the election of the European Parliament President, MEPs are choosing today who will fill the posts of Vice Presidents. The two candidates put forward by the ALDE Group have been elected: Pavel Telička (ANO) and Alexander Graf Lambsdorff (FDP). Congratulations to both of them!

On 17 January the first event of the year organised by ALDE Party Individual Members took place at the ALDE Party HQ in Brussels, Belgium. The keynote speaker of the event was Katerina Polyzou, the country coordinator of ALDE Party individual members in Greece.
