This week, many leading ALDE personalities are joining this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos to shape the global, regional and industry agenda. Keep an eye on Liberal speakers such as Mark Rutte, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Cecilia Malmström, Alexander de Croo or Neelies Kroes.
ALDE party member Venstre, led by Trine Skei Grande, has joined Norway’s government. The news comes after negotiations that led to the extension of the government led by Prime Minister Erna Solberg. The coalition now features three Ministers from Venstre: Trine Skei Grande, Ola Elvestuen and Iselin Nybø.
On 22 January, the members of the ALDE Group at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (ALDE-PACE) re-elected Rik Daems as their President. They also elected five new Bureau members: Eerik Kross, Michael Georg Link, Melisa Rodriguez, Mart van de Ven and Sylvain Waserman.
Earlier this week a fundraising event was organised in Brussels with ALDE Party Vice President Angelika Mlinar MEP to support Più Europa, a liberal and pro-European coalition created to prevent authoritarian and national populist forces from gaining influence in Italy in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
ALDE Party Vice President Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP has called for the European Union to devote more attention to the full integration of the Western Balkans. Recently, he met with Juliana Nikolova, Member of the Parliament of Macedonia from LDP, and Islam Pacolli, Member of the Parliament of Kosovo from AKR.
